About Dr. Steven D. Spitz | Smileboston


Steven D. Spitz is a renowned implant dentist and prosthodontist, a dental specialist focused on restoring and replacing teeth. Dr. Spitz graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and went on to complete his post-doctoral studies which includes a two-year, full time program at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine/Boston VA Medical Center along with a general practice residency through Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. Dr. Spitz currently teaches at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and is on staff at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts.

On a local and international level, Dr. Spitz is involved with Alpha Omega (AO) Dental Fraternity, the oldest international dental organization in our country which was found in 1907 at the University of Maryland School of Dental Medicine by a group of dental students. Dr. Spitz has been elected as an International Director at Large/US Region on AO’s International Board as well as the Chair of Student Affairs Committee and Chair Awards Committee. He is the immediate past-president of the Boston alumni chapter of AO, serving alumni members and students of Tufts, Harvard, and Boston University dental schools. Dr. Spitz has been a clinical professor of prosthodontics in the Department of Post-Graduate Prosthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and has volunteered his dental services at the Boston Shelter for Homeless Veterans for 11 years. He has repeatedly been selected as one of “America’s Top Dentists” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Facts about Dr. Spitz

Dr. Spitz is one of the few prosthodontists in the New England area that uses the advanced technology of the Waterlase® MD Laser; in fact Dr. Spitz is the first dentist in the United States to use the Waterlase laser to successfully place dental implants. He was also chosen as the prosthodontist for the Benjamin Franklin Tooth Restoration Project. Dr. Spitz again utilized the Waterlase laser to restore a tooth believed to have been extracted from Benjamin Franklin.
